Favorite Nashville Outdoor Spots for Kids

Looking Pretty Music City Mural behind the Madewell Store in 12 South

In case you missed it, we MOVED to beautiful Nashville TN this summer! We are loving every minute, and we’ve spent the entire summer exploring what Davidson and Williamson Counties have to offer. Spoiler alert: it’s a lot!

Here are our favorite outdoor spots in Nashville so far. I’ll add to the list as we keep exploring, so check back often and sign up for the emails!

1//  12 South neighborhood + Sevier Park

This tops the list for our whole family. Sevier Park has a good-sized parking lot, 2 playgrounds with a swing set in the middle, an expansive walking path, and gorgeous old shade trees! You can leave your car at Sevier Park and make the short walk up 12th Ave. South to some of Nashville’s most famous restaurants, boutiques, and wall murals. Looking for the ‘I Believe In Nashville’ art? This is where you need to be!

2// Crockett Park

Located in Brentwood TN, Crockett Park is in a quiet neighborhood area behind an elementary school. There are multiple playgrounds, but the main one is directly behind the school and has 2 huge play areas constructed from wood. Located under massive shade trees, it’s the perfect place for kids to burn off energy on a hot day! Crockett Park also hosts the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, where you can find bands and orchestras playing throughout the summer.

3// Pedestrian Bridge

For the best skyline views of the city, and a decent uphill walk, we love the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River. I usually can find street parking on S. 1st Street. Walk all the way over the bridge and grab lunch at one of the many restaurants near Broadway, or take the elevator mid-way across the bridge, and walk along the river. There’s a hidden playground with slides and a climbing wall!

4// Radnor Lake State Park

The most beautiful scenery in Nashville is right in the middle of Radnor Lake State Park! We went on a Sunday morning, which was extremely busy. Make sure you go during the week or later in the afternoon for a less crowded experience! The boys loved walking over the damn and throwing rocks in the lake. We can’t wait to go back in the late summer/early fall to see the autumn colors!

5// Brentwood Splash Park

Our kids are thrilled to spend an afternoon at this taken-up-5-notches splash pad! Located in the Williamson County Sports Complex, it’s a short drive from downtown Nashville and well worth the drive. Day passes are available at the entrance, but make sure you bring your own towels, snacks, and water.
