Baby’s first milestones are the most fun events to celebrate! Whether it’s their first birthday or first Christmas, chances are you will want to find the perfect gift to keep them entertained. 1 and 2 year old gifts are easy to shop for because anything new is likely to fascinate them! Here are some of the toys our toddlers have loved, that are now being passed on to our new baby.
Books are our favorite gifts to give and receive. Even for children who aren’t old enough to understand, story books make a great keepsake! I’ve linked a few of our favorites, but we have so many more on our bookshelves.
One of the most memorable gifts we gave our 2-year-old was this wooden rocking horse. His eyes lit up when he saw it under the tree! It brought back memories of the handmade rocking horse my dad built for me as a kid. This one is sturdy and we have been very impressed with the quality!
You also can’t go wrong with colorful stacking blocks. Ours are by Melissa and Doug, a brand I’ve mentioned before. I trust their quality and their toys hold up after taking a loving beating from my boys! Pop-up toys are another great idea for teaching babies hand-eye coordination. Our newest little guy has recently been captivated by this Battatat toy!
If you need little stocking stuffer or grab bag ideas, Taggies teething toys are a good idea. All of my babies loved playing with these soft teething toys, and they were life savers on long car rides!
Soft pull-back cars and trucks are so fun for older toddlers, and even early crawlers. Our 9-month-old loves to chew on these, and it’s fun to watch them learn how to make the cars race as they get older.
You have to be patient if you are going to allow your kids to have musical toys, trust me! The last thing you want to hear at the end of a long day is banging, clanging, hooting, and hollering. But if you’re sure of your ability to handle it, you should add some sound to your kiddos play time! Hape is a great brand for wooden musical toys and our boys get a thrill out of rolling the balls down this wooden xylophone. I’ve linked a few other toys we love that sing, talk, ring, or ding!
Hopefully this gives you some ideas for celebrating your baby and toddler’s first special days. Happy shopping, and thanks for being here!
