How to Wear: Mom Jeans

Ready to update your mom-style game in 2019? Trust me, I know the struggle. When you have babies and toddlers taking up every ounce of energy, it’s really hard to devote extra brain power to getting dressed. It’s faster to throw on leggings and a baggy sweatshirt rather than dig around your closet! You need something comfy, easy, and mess-proof. Stepping up your game doesn’t have to be rocket science though.

Enter boyfriend jeans (aka: mom jeans, or tomgirl jeans). They check all the boxes: comfy, easy, and mess-proof. Did I mention “stylish”? Leggings can be stylish too, but jeans definitely take it up a notch. Jeans say “I got dressed today”, when leggings say “I might have stayed in my pajamas or I’m heading to the gym.”

Here are 3 ways you can wear mom jeans on a daily basis, plus links to the items I’m wearing in each photo! Hover your mouse or tap on the photos to shop!

You only need 1 good pair of relaxed jeans. Mine are from American Eagle, but you can find similar styles at Target, Old Navy, Express, and H&M. They fit loosely through the hip, and most styles are high-waisted. Another bonus! Wear a fitted shirt to balance out the baggy style. I like to layer a chunky cardigan or vest over a waffle tshirt with my tomgirl jeans.

My favorite comfortable date night look that still looks put-together: momjeans and a leather jacket. Throw on some cute flats or heels and you’re done! In the summer I trade out the jacket for a pretty floral top.

Instead of grabbing your baggy hoodie, try a slouchy sweater. You can do the half-tuck in front or leave it out. Just as easy as your leggings-and-hoodie combo, but now you’re comfy and stylish at the same time!

Here’s to a stylish 2019 and building a better wardrobe!
